Introduction to the Second Book of Samuel, or Kings

The first book described the deeds of Samuel and King Saul; but this second book describes the deeds of King David. For the fall of Saul was the rise of David. For on the same day on which Saul died, David arose, like a new sun rising for Israel, who accordingly soon succeeded Saul in the kingdom of Judah.
