Cambrai

City in the southern Low Countries (now in northern France), seat of an ancient archbishopric and duchy. Van der Burch was inaugurated as Archbishop and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire here. The archdiocese contained nearly 800 parishes and its annals record many bishops enrolled among the saints. The Archduke nominated Van der Burch to transfer from the bishopric of Ghent to this see.
