Sirmium

Ancient Roman city in Pannonia (modern Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia). Site of the Council of Sirmium, whose canon 14 defined that the one who wrestled against Jacob was the Son of God. Lapide dismisses the council as an assembly of Arians.
